What's in it for me?
I have an idea, and I need your input. The idea is to create a music program. Many colleges and universities in Canada are cancelling their music programs. What's going to take their place? Is it possible to create our own music education program? Maybe we could create something even better and more affordable than the programs in colleges and universities.
I will give you a free music lesson, and in exchange, here are some questions I'd love to ask you:
-
If you could design your ideal music program, what classes or projects would you include?
-
Have you ever considered applying for a music program? What was that like?
-
How much time commitment do you think is reasonable for a music program?
-
What outcomes would you want from a music program?
Even if you've never thought about these things before, I'll bet you have some insight.
What to Expect
I'll send you a zoom link, and we'll meet at our agreed time. I'll interview you for 15-20 minutes about your ideal music program, then you can ask me anything you want about music for another 15-20 minutes. I've taught guitar, piano, drums, voice, songwriting, theory, harmony, and ear training. I've written a book on the subject of becoming fluent in the language of music, and I'll do my best to be as helpful as possible.
No, I will not try to sell you anything.
Eventually I might have a music program you could sign up for, but not yet. I'm simply interested in your opinions and ideas. Your thoughts are valuable to me. I will not ask you to buy my albums, come to my music events, or take music lessons from me. If you are interested in any of these things, I can help you, but that's not the point of this interview.
